A
quote by Maria Montesorri: “The environment must
be rich in motives which lend interest to activity and invite the child to
conduct his own experiences.”
What inspires and excites you most
about your advocacy plan and being an advocate?
Being an advocate means that teachers need to provide
support and access to proper resources for children and their families. This would help to develop positive role
models for teachers who are leaders in early childhood education. This would also help to embody the values,
policies, and practices that support the right of every young child and his or
her family as is DAP and is socially emotionally necessary.
·
What challenges and/or anxieties do
you feel related to engaging in the advocacy efforts you have targeted?
Summarizing this focus and my goals both long and short
term. I have to ensure the benefits for this effort/topic. I need to elaborate on the main focus and not
provide too little or too much information that is unnecessary.
·
What do you believe will be most
effective in helping you overcome any challenging emotions you may be feeling
with regard to presenting and implementing your Advocacy Action Plan?
Staying focus as an excellent early
childhood teacher is one that facilitates learning in all areas and enhances
development, by having a quality learning plan and a curriculum that achieves
important goals by assessing children’s development and learning and
establishing reciprocal relationship with families. This will help to foster social emotional
development that is developmentally appropriate. Teachers must be able
to make children feel well secured in a nurturing environment, while
maintaining positive approaches to learning, and creating positive relationship
amongst peers. Each child is an individual and teachers must get to know and
respect each child as such, in order to be foster social emotional development
that is DAP.
·
How can you encourage others in
their advocacy efforts, and how can others encourage you?
It is important for ECE to know that
they also need to be a mentor
and a role model who provides support (and the needs of children by ensuring
them), and by maintaining communication for children, between parents and
families, peers and other professionals. Mentoring can provide teachers with a
structure and support for children between peers, the learning community and
families. As a whole, the early childhood
community helps to improve the landscape for children and families leadership and advocacy for early childhood professionals.
